I wrecked my car two days ago. As I was going home for lunch, it was raining, thus the the roads were wet. I was coming up over a hill and saw some cars stopped for the one in front to turn left. I tried to stop but ended up hydroplaning into the 4Runner in front of me. Thankfully, it was a lady that knew me and let me use her cell phone to call my mom (providentially mine had run out of power just a few minutes before) after she called the local sheriff's department. Nobody was hurt, but my poor Cassie's front end was crumpled by her trailer hitch. Back to the shop she goes. They can't start working on it until Monday the 7th and I'm assuming it'll take at least a week to fix. Thank goodness for insurance.
Speaking of insurance, when I was getting the rental, the guy that was helping me (Ryan, the manager) told me about a lady that called in to Enterprise's Shreveport office explaining her situation and trying to figure out what to do. Here's what went down. Her husband had rented a brand-new SUV or a truck (I'm not sure which) that had about 4,000 miles on it. He was south of Houston and was broadsided by a girl in an 2003 Expedition, totalling both vehicles. The wife was telling Enterprise that he was in ICU and didn't know what to do next. The girl that hit him called in to the same office to explain her situation. She had that nearly brand-new Expedition and NO insurance. She personally owes Enterprise about $21,000 for their vehicle...not to mention her truck and his medical bills. When asked why she didn't have the insurance to cover it, she said she had just lost her job, couldn't afford the premiums and cancelled the policy. If I'm driving, I make sure I have the insurance because you never know what's going to happen.
