Back In Action

Hey everybody,

We're glad to report that all of the Taylors (and one father-in-law!) are finally back in Jingzhou and back in action. And after one long week with two jet-lagged boys, we're pretty much on the right schedules. Seth was excited to get back to his Chinese hometown - he started smiling as soon as he saw Jingzhou's ancient city wall. He's back to playing with the neighborhood kids, eating lots of rice, and sleeping in his own bedroom. Now that Caleb's 6 months old, he's graduated from being carried everywhere to riding in the basket seat on the back on my bike. He likes it A LOT better than those crazy car seats he had to use in the US! At 6 months old, he might be a little bit young to be riding back there, but he handles it well. Since Caleb has taken Seth's old seat on my bike, Seth and Lisa got to move on up to an electric scooter. Lisa sits and drives, while Seth stands in between her legs and thinks he's driving. The traffic rarely gets above 15 miles an hour, so it's not quiet as dangerous as it sounds. And last of all, Seth has moved on to potty training pretty successfully, which in China means no more diapers, but toilets, trees, and sidewalks are all fair game. Seth loves it!

I started teaching English at the university again last week and my schedule's great. All of my classes are in the mornings, which means that I have every afternoon and evening to spend with Lisa, the boys, and our brothers and sisters. A small group of Chinese adults started meeting in a local man's house on Sundays during the summer and we're really hopeful that they'll continue and grow with a little encouragement and guidance from the foreigners here. Please remember them in your prayers! We're inviting about 10 of the more serious brothers and sisters from our school to start meeting with us every Wednesday night. We want to encourage them to build some stronger relationships with each other and get them more used to making their faith an important part of those relationships. We'll play around some, casually talk about some "deeper" topics, and spend some time praying together. As part of this meeting, we hope to find 4 or 5 individuals that we can really focus on and mentor.
