Boblo Island & Detroit

People say "Detroit" like it's an unfunny joke, and it's easy to forget that Detroit was once called the Paris of the West (for its architecture) and the Arsenal of Democracy (for its industry during WW2).

In the Detroit River is Boblo Island, on which an amusement park was built in 1898 and which closed in 1993. My father went there as a kid and one of my best memories is when my Dad and I took a trip there when I was in elementary school.

He sent me this silent, moving (to me at least) video of the Detroit skyline and the park, shot from the Boblo Island Ferry.
