Eternal Recurrence

Perhaps the most notorious stylistic blunder of Chicago Mayor Daley the First:

"They have vilified me, they have crucified me; yes, they have even criticized me."

Today, Sarah Palin's spokeswoman, apparently something of a scholar of the history of American political rhetoric, stated,

"We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship."

More here.

The Smart Set magazine, 1919:

"Q: If you find so much that is unworthy of reverence in America, why do you live here?

A: Why do men go to zoos?"
