Kept My Heart, Three Double-Stacks

Got back late last night from California, which is always some kind of surreal out-of-body-into-the-past experience, doubly-triply so 'cause my sister Joanna got married, accelerating the trip. It was a gorgeous wedding, finishing with some Wes-Anderson-Rushmore-esque dancing including my now-four-year-old nephew Jacob stealing the show. At some point in the last two years he turned into a person, and a remarkably pleasant one at that. If there's a reason to regret living in Chattanooga, I suppose being 2K miles away from family is a good enough reason as any.

Still, if I have to drive for more than 15 minutes again anytime soon I may shoot myself. In California an hour drive is something you do a few times a day.

I'm guilt-free in blowing my diet and eating at IN-N-OUT Burger three times, double-stacks! If there's a finer hamburger out there, I just don't care.

I do feel guilty for doubting that Chattanooga would ever land a major manufacturer, especially after Bob joined the Senate and our local leadership... changed. I think we can all rightly feel a sense of civic pride that a company with factories and downright beautiful as VW would chose us.

Finally, Artamajig is tomorrow night, and CreateHere is doing a writers workshop the 31st.

Funny how that happens to kids, one minute they are just drooling things wearing diapers, and the next minute they're having interesting conversations with you.

See you at Art.a.ma.jig tomorrow, I'll be the pregnant one not drinking....

Actually, you can feel good about in n out, if I recall correctly from _Fast Food Nation_. Non-franchised, paying $8/hr and up, benefits for full-time workers, well-paid managers, etc.
