"City Employees Are Disgusted"
I'm a little in awe of the responses with regards to the Mayor's blatant lies and corruption surrounding the Marti Rutherford situation. I've received a number of e-mails from people in the City, this is the most interesting:
All the city employees are disgusted and know that Marti has something on the Mayor which is the only reason he would step in and do something like this. But we don't have first amendment rights as far as Mayor Littlefield is concerned, which was evident after so many employees who spoke out for Ann Coulter were "reassigned" when he gained office and when Steve Leach took action against an employee who stood up in city council.
And of course Manny is on his side as usual. Manny and the Mayor would bend over backwards to get away from doing this for anyone else.
I, naturally, deleted the e-mail in question and didn't look at who the sender was. City employees represent one of the largest voting blocks. With the raise debacle a couple months back, Ron may have just blown his re-election chances.
It was a delight listening to Robert T. Nash today do his best to avoid talking explicitly about Ron Littlefield, as if the big news of the day was just Marti. I'm willing to complement the Mayor was he does something good; looks like RTN doesn't to jeopardize his access to "power". Who's a "hanger on" now?
Mesh makes the best point, catching the Mayor in an outright lie. Billy Blades, give him some props, for old times sake!

Marti does indeed have something on the mayor. She is friends with my father and told him (on the phone while I was there) if she goes down, she is taking the mayor with her. That this didn't happen surprised me, but not when the mayor gave her three more work days. That might be the balance.
