The Integrator Returns

Those of you who attended Covenant College from around 1998-2000 will remember Jonathan Davis' fantastic cartoon, The Integrator. Well, it looks like The Integrator is back, and unfortunately due to the "marketing demands" of the College, is in something of a bind. Will he escape?

A few months back I got a solicitation in the mail from Covenant saying something like "Some of you have heard that the college has changed and that its not the same as it used to be....but thats all false and so feel free to send in an alumni donation."

Now I know there are always two sides to every story but given the recent discussions here, I'm starting to believe that the college is actually taking a downturn. During my years at Covenant, I always felt like the discipleship of the student was more important to school leaders then the image of the college. They really cared about making us better people. And part of making better people is trusting those people to make the right decisions. So even when students (myself included) would make really dumb mistakes, the college was so good about focusing on helping the student not make more dumb mistakes and less concerned about the effects of thats students mistakes on the "Image" of the college.

In my opinion, if Covenant loses its trust for students and starts being overly concerned about the school's "image," then it's going to turn into just another legalistic Bible college. That being the case, PCA parents should just sign their kids up at Tennessee Temple and save a few bucks.
