Now I Understand Why Apple Can Be Annoying

I broke ranks and purchased a Blackberry Curve. $600 for a 1 gen iPhone was just a bit too much (I'm waiting for the iPhone Nano). The Curve is a pretty nice gadget, syncing up nicely with my gcal and gmail (thanks to some 3rd party apps), and sporting a tasty 2gig memory card.

I know I've been spoiled with the flawless interfaces of Apple, but there are just some real mindblowingly bizarre (or, stupid) choices made for the Blackberry, like a separate button for "sleep" and "on/off", with no mention of the distinction in both of the included manuals (I finally found explanation on the Curve handout I snagged off the display).

But the real frustration with the Blackberry Curve: lack of integration with iTunes & the inability to play any of my music that I bought on iTunes. What Apple needs to do... [editor: basically I suggest doing this, thanks Stay Huff Marshmallow Man for the tip]

So, Final take: a solid device, functionally adequate, inferior in design, implementation, and feature set to the iPhone, but sufficient for my immediate needs.

Try paying attention. Apple does offer a way to upgrade your iTunes library to iTunes Plus, for songs that are available without DRM.

Instructions can be found here.

I saw this morning that Apple may be coming out with a Nano-line iPhone. It's speculation, of course, but there's some evidence (according to this guy anyway).

You are a wise man to hold out until the second generation of iPhones. Well, I actually just faced the same dilemma and went with a Treo 680.

Ramona just bought an iPhone this week. It's amazing and far superior to my Treo. I'll vouch for the value any day. Pay for good design.
