RiverCity Buys Union Gospel Mission

Union Gospel Mission
Originally uploaded by josiahq.
The ongoing effort to renovate/revitalize/restore East Main Street at and to the east of its intersection with Market Street continues with the announcement that RiverCity Company has purchased the Union Gospel Mission building, which is on the SE corner of the intersection.

Interesting (and gracious and good) is that RiverCity will be giving the Mission use of the building rent-free for a year. In the interim RiverCity will be issue an RFP for the development of the property. I'm not sure if that means the building will be torn town or simply renovated.

There's also no mention of where the Mission will be relocating to, whether to the Homeless Hilton or elsewhere.

Do note Jeff Cannon mentioning a "new restaurant announcement". This has me very, very excited.
