The St. Elmo Playground Cometh!

st-elmo-playground.gif
What an awesome day working on the St. Elmo playground. Both Alli and Andy have some great pictures up of the volunteer framing crews at works.

It's only day one, which was supposed to be a "manpower light" day, and it still seems like everyone and their grandmother was present. I think I now understand the appeal of an Amish Barn Raising. I can't wait for Saturday, when 200+ folks are supposed to turn out.

If you're not planning to already, please consider coming by and helping build the playground. Free drinks, food, and childcare are provided. It's a heckuvalot of fun.

Times Free Press has an article and audio-report here.

Here's the vid from last night's WRCBTV Channel 3 segment:

i think this is so incredible for st. elmo. and what is really cool, looking through the photos, is that we have SO MANY people with real skills for building this sort of thing. so many carpenters and contractors, etc. I would be curious about the comments from the guy from Learning Structures about our turnout/participation, as well as the skill of the volunteers.
