Goodbye Myspace, Hello Virb

I absolutely despise Myspace. The design is poor, the interface worse, and it barely works. Unfortch, everyone and their grandmother uses it.

Justin (and Dwayne) turned me onto Virb which is pretty much everything Myspace should be. It's got integration with Flickr, delicious, and all the bells and whistles brilliantly implemented. The default style is wonderful, and you have the ability to customize to your hearts content, with tools of varying levels of difficulty, right on down to editing the CSS yourself.

My personal favorite widget they've got is how they handle the "thumbnail" issue when you upload a video. Most places just randomly chose a slice and you're stick with what they give you, Virb will let you upload your own or have it randomly cycle through possible thumbnails until you find something appropriate.

Also, I love their use of AJAX and lightbox.

I'm still learning all the ins and outs, and I hope it takes off and eventually eats Myspace. They do need to add the ability to import blog entries from non-virb blogs. You can checkout my profile here.
