New Times Free Press Website
The new Times Free Press website was launched early this morning. We pretty much gave 'em the works: re-branding (from tfponline to timesfreepress.com), redesign, embedded videos, all sorts of social networking widgetry, etc.The project was close to our hearts for all sorts of "civic pride" reasons, and we're immensely happy with the results. It looks like they're still populating out some of the changes (classifieds, archives); hopefully they'll be done soon.
{update}
Publisher Tom Griscom did an article about the new website launch here. Mark, Rob, and myself got a shout-out from Tom. Gotta give serious props to Ron for his CSS skillz and James from some seat of the pants asp & asp .NET programming. Not our development platform of choice, but they got it done.

well done. I guess the chattanoogan will now have to hire actual writers to keep up?

It does look nice. Very nice design work.
As I browsed around there are still three templates in use. Some of the pages look totally different than the others. (community news and others.... classified)
As a sports person, I wish they could improve the sports section. There is nothing different except the template. Can't get box scores with articles. Stats are still hard to read. No pictures with articles. Photo galleries are still nice. They are one of my favorite things on the site.
The videos have been runnning for weeks I guess I missed all the social networking widgetry.
I don't think it is going to bring more people to the site just aleviate some frustrations in viewing content.
A lot of there content still needs to be viewed on "full access".
