Sufjan Stevens & David Byrne do Saginaw, Michigan

Prog Rock + Indie Rock = Bliss

Dave Eggers organized a tour benefiting his tutoring program, 826NYC featuring the above mentioned and all manner of stars and performers from Aimee Mann to John Stewart to... Jake Gyllenhall? The video clip below of Sufjan & David is taken from the first show in NYC. (thanks to Nick for the headsup)

With Talking Heads, David Byrne was a progenitor of jangly new wave and (sometimes) snooty art school punk, not prog. He is now more world music-based.

I grew up there... or, well, in the next town over, twenty minutes away. Saginaw is not really an artsy city. Huh.
