A Valid Argument

Michigan v Notre Dame 2006 Final Scoreboard

Quod Erat Demonstrandum. My apologies for the pretentious use of Latin; I stole the idea from Brian. Games, no events like yesterday's warrant, if only for a little bit, some flourish. I can't really talk about it, not for a lack of words, but because I lost my voice from yelling so much.

I don't question that it's a bit absurd for a program's fanbase to lurch into existential crisis when given a 7-5 season. Most Universities would call that "good". But this is U of M, and we expect more.

For the last 9 years it's been emotionally torturous: to simply watch so much talent squandered by bad coaching, no Woodson to carry us on his ample shoulders.

Something has happened; that thing demonstrably argued for and proven by the 47-21 point destruction of Notre Dame on Saturday. We've found aggression again (vid courtesy of IBFC). Michigan, for the first time in years, is being coached with aggression. Unbelievable talent coupled with aggression. Did I mention aggression? It's a marvel to watch.

How has a defense that was last year the laughing stock of the Big 10 suddenly transformed into an animal that will manhandle the #2 team in the country? Ron English: I want you to know that I love you.

And finally, I must give Weiss credit for being a real class act after the game. It's really refreshing, especially when your biggest rival happens to be a bunch of criminals.

What a waste of a saturday afternoon... nah, but there was just nothing good about that game from a Notre Dame fan's perspective. The only thing I can say is the honey moon's over Weiss. Now he's still playing with Willingham's guys, so that's the solice I take. Michigan better do something with that huge win, otherwise they suck. Take down ohio state and all will be yours

Yes, being in South Bend was a little depressing (if one had turned on the local news unawares, s/he would have thought some national disaster had just occurred). Regardless of what Michigan does with that win, they were spectacular on Saturday. Best of luck to your team.
