Without All The Acceptance & Getting By

I may be completely out to lunch, but I think Imaginary Forces released a new website in the last few months. I'm not certain because during my hard-drive failure I hadn't reconnected Flock into my Del.icio.us bookmarks, so I haven't been checking them with any sort of regularity.

Anways, IF is the motion graphics firm behind things like the Band of Brothers & Seven credit intro's, and a number of motion picture trailers and teasers (Pirates of the Caribbean etc.). They also did the rework of the Marvel Comics logo.

Adsense ads: we'll see how long they stick around. I'm more doing it for trying out some various tricks to understand how Google adsense better. We're managing a good number of Adsense & Adwords accounts now for clients, and while it isn't my job per se to understand it all, I'm curious. Plus, I promise no money received from any ads will be spent on anything other than what I want to spend it on. So by all means please visit my "sponsors".

I've been strolling down memory lane, and have really been enjoying *gulp* Ani DiFranco's song "Angry Any More". I loved that song when I was 17.

How about putting that money towards a shiny new server?

I'll second Garrett's motion.

I'll third it. That is, if motions can be thirded. That sounds like it'd be a great way to spend any money gotten via adverts on the side of any free Terrablog.

Hey, you know where my bling bling is going. Mebbe we need some kind of incentive for folks who generate ad revenue off their blogs to donate back to Terrablogs? We sure need it right now.

I thought ads were forbidden in the bylaws?

Posted by: stelmodad at March 23, 2006 5:39 PM

From the current TOS:

You agree to not use the Service to: ... d. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation; ...

Seems to me this would hinge on the word "unauthorized," perhaps? And if so, how does one become "authorized" to post ads?

Seems the point of that section was to stop blog spammers and e-mail spammers, which still makes the issue of what's authorized and what isn't. Adsense seems perfectly acceptable.
