Stankonia

Whether he likes it or not, the Scooter world in Chattanooga revolves around Stan Obal. He is our begrudging leader, a Chattanooga Scooter World Historical Figure, if you will.

Perhaps most importantly, he's the only scooter mechanic in town. At least the only one with a measure of competance.

If you heard a collective gasp from various pockets of Los Scootas Noogas this week, that was because Stan is out of town. When Stan is gone its as if our safety net, our security has left us. We all feel like we're riding on borrowed time. I'm not sure any of us are wrong.

Think about how reassuring it would be if your mechanic made house calls. Immediately. Imagine how great it would feel to know that if at any time you had even the smallest problem with your vehicle, you could call your mechanic immediately for help and he would drop everything to come help you. Your very own "White Knight" if you will, except instead of a horse he drives a white, rusted, vintage GS.

All that to say, Stan is gone, and I'm taking my scooter in to Scenic City today to get my throttle/fuel line looked at, and I miss him.

Jen is letting me cruise a sweet GB150 for the time being.

I'm off to the Dentist to have my face drilled in.
