A Design Day

It really goes back to an internship I did here, where I met this guy and this guy and coined the phrase "Bitchin' GD" for which I'm told I'm stilled mocked consistently for by Ben & Michael who are now here.

Since way back then I've been a fanboy of design, and even though I can't draw a dang thing to save my life. I love it, I refuse to let Coptix put a product out the door that compromises good design. I love Metropolis, Design Observer, K10K, Design is Kinky, etc. etc. I dream of one day perhaps even Pulling A Sagmeister (warning! graphic image) of my own.

Anyways, I realize this is silly and that I'm being unironically sentimental about something that isn't a big deal, but my day was made when I opened a letter this afternoon from the President of the Chattanooga Chapter of the AIGA asking me if I'd join, so I did.

Yes, I could have joined at anytime on my own. Yes I happen to be friends with Paul, the aforementioned President of our local chapter. No I can't design to save my life. But I still think its cool, and I still think good design is the silver bullet for everything.

My apologies for this extended wanking post. In hopes of saving what shred of respectibility I have left (which I'm sure in light of this post and a host of other things is virtually non-existent) I give you this; actual content, actual substance, actual quality writing and thinking from Slate Advertising & Marketing Writer Seth Stevenson.

but it's a good mocking... and you've grown into such a nice young man since then.
