I'm Like A Child Who Wanders Into a Theater...
April and I moved into our new house this weekend. I think I'm in love with it. I appreciate everyone who turned out to help. We also moved Ron and Allison in the morning. By the time Sunday evening rolled around I was exausted. Still managed to get our first game of poker in; its really really nice to have a place where we can have company.
I'm also strangely addicted to Lumines on the PsP. That game is insane. I guess now I'm including Lumines in the deal. Make an offer.
My free x-box arrived finally. Took forever. Gratis was cool and threw in a copy of Star Wars: Knights of the Republic and a DVD kit w/ controller, which was a nice move. I haven't opened it yet. I guess I'm selling it all as a bundle, so if you want a brand new X-Box, KOTOR, and the DVD kit, make an offer!
I'll also be running the St. Elmo Improvement League meeting tonigh (7 pm., Firehall, corner of 45th & St. Elmo Ave.) 'cause SEIL President Doug Hightsue is out of town. The big issue for ye St. Elmoians that we need to discuss is petitioning the city to make sure we get the playground they promised on the Old Rec Center property. Of course, we'll use more diplomatic language. I've already talked with city councilmen Manuel Rico (helps he works next door) and he's planning on being there and making sure the playground gets taken care of. But we need to vote and submit an official letter stating our "neighborhood desires/intentions".
Finally, Apple announces OS X for the x86/Pentium chipset. Unbelievable. Lang has been predicting this I think for like 6 months now. I'm buying stock in Apple. Immediately. For those of us in the software/computer industry, the times they are a-changin'.

OSX is not being released for x86/Pentium based PCs. Intel is going to start making chips for future Apples instead of IBM. They'll still be macs, not PCs. Would be cool though :/

And Apple is going to hit a huge slump for next year/year and a half, because sales for Macs will go down since there's no sense in buying a new Mac when in a year you won't be able to use any of Apple's new software. Every computer they make from here on out will be automatically obsolete. It's going to be a rough transition, so I would wait and buy stock in about the middle of the slump, that's where you make the big money.

Not really... jump down here to the section on Rosetta:

But Rosetta only allows the Intel systems to run PowerPC programs, not the other way around.

ok - Mr "just bought a house might as well take over the neighborhood now" Roe -
just tell me when the meeting is to discuss secession from chattanooga - bring stelmo back to its original status...thats what i'm talking about.
anyway - is there trouble with the park issue? last i heard the demolition was on target to be scheduled. they were to approve the contract at city council and everyone's head is moving forward on this one (caveat: except the obvious nameless troublemaking park-haters...). i know there was snag with one of the bids that didn't allow it to get the second reading - but there was no snag about moving forward.
please, oh homeowner (can i call you Home'O for short now?) - tell me why you are worried?
your friendly neighborhood antagonist,
maryB

all this talk of rosetta has me thinking about my new favorite bird-the rosella. they have one at the aviary on dayton blvd, the exotic bird store. it freaking rocks. if i can muster up 300$ it may be mine. but it will take time. in the meanwhile, check out this bird at:

Hunt/Mary
hunt: how 'bout we trade? U score me an AK and I'll hook you guys up with an x-box.
mary: the issue was that I believe Jeff Pfitzer (and I could be wrong) and his people had changed the implementation of the park into two phases and the playground was in the second phase. The problem with that as you well know is that the 2nd phases of projects rarely get completed anytime soon. The other problem was that they changed the building from a "pavilion" to a "gazebo", which we don't want to happen either.

josiah - i think there is a step in this process that invites community in put from everyone. no one has seen the original idea that was born out of the mediation last summer, or the newest versions of the plan. i mean no one at large that is. i am surprised there are tweeking conversations taking place before anyone has really been presented with the concept.

Mr. Jonny Pants,
Rosetta makes old stuff run on the new. New stuff developed with XCode will already run on both. They're calling it "universal binary." See the macworld link above.
