What Happens When Two Substances Collide
The Andrew Bird concert yesterday at Barking Legs was gorgeous. Just amazing. I'm certainly no musicphile, nor am I trained in the ways of creating compelling sounds from "instruments", but I like to think that even in the most bizarre of situations I can find some framework or archimedean point of understanding what exactly is occuring. But Andrew Bird, really, I was lost. I've got to ask, Andrew, what exactly are you doing? Its beautiful, stunning, compelling, whimsicle: as someone put it, completely unironic yet still self-aware. It all felt anachronistic, yet familiar, like the nursery rhymes your mother would sing that you can't remember but know she sang.
So, by all means, pick up some Andrew Bird. His stuff it on iTunes. It gets my two thumbs up. Its cliche and pretentious but I feel like his stuff enriches my life, expands my brain, and makes me want to dance with my wife.
Yesterday we also hung out with the Choltonians and Aaron n' Fran Thompson. We grilled. Was good. We also packed about half of the stuff at our apartment in prep for the move to our new house this weekend. If any of you are board this weekend and wanna help us move, we're going to be sharing a big ol' moving truck with the Otts, moving their stuff in the morning and then our stuff in the afternoon.
Anyways, I'm off to a meeting. Oh, sorrry about the blog sites being down last night. Lang accidentally blew away the apache config file setting up server backups and Stephen had to rebuild it. You should already know this because you read the Official Chattablog.
