Ron Littlefield, Corruption, & The Homebuilders Association
Read the article (by Dave Flessner) on Mayor Littlefield via the City giving his Campaign Manager Dale Mabee a million-dollar loan, free property, and no-bid options on additional parcels in the downtown.
Until last year, Dale Mabee was on the Board of the Home Builders Association, an organization who along with it's members represented the largest donor block to the Mayor's campaign (still working on the total, but it's in the tens of thousands). Dale Mabee and his wife Peggy donated at least $2,500 to Ron's campaign, and at a cursory glance gave (with his wife) around $5K total in the general & runoff elections.
The Home Builders Association represented one of the four groups on which the Mayor built his campaign. The other three were/are: Republicans via Dan Johnson, the African-American community led by Ward Crutchfield & William Cotton, and City employees / SEIU. With the housing crash, the HBA isn't half what it was in the previous election. Cotton & Ward are in jail (or should be), and The Mayor screwed City workers & the SEIU on the raise issue.
Serendipitously, the only ally Mayor has left is Dan Johnson & the HCGOP. Cats and dogs, sharing power. If only there was a way to drive a wedge or for Dan Johnson to commit political suicide. Seems like that's only a matter of time. ;)
Finally, note that the Home Builders Association website was built by the same firm which built the Mayor's website & is currently suing the City for supposedly not paying their bills.
