Hamilton County Commission Maps
Last night I finished the Googlemapping of the Hamilton County, Tennessee Commission District maps. The gerrymandering of County Districts is particularly apparent in Districts 2, 4, & 6.
In District 2 notice the inclusion of Lookout Mountain, Elder Mountain, Signal Mountain, and Riverview in spite of an extreme geographic disjunct. It would appear, especially after looking at the Chattanooga City Council District maps, that the only thing keeping Missionary Ridge out was that it's membership in District 2 would have only been possible through the inclusion of some part of Bushtown. The District 2 framers could stomach a slice of Red Bank if that meant getting Riverview, but no way were they going to tolerate Bushtown.
Once again, I hope residents of Hamilton County find these maps helpful. Some of us are working on a site featuring a number of Chattanooga Google maps. Hopefully it'll be up soon.
