Oscar Brock: "I was white and my two passengers were black and I was in Alton Park"
Oscar Brock is an articulate and intelligent individual. His understanding of the need for competition in education is encouraging; his bizarre desire to repeal the Sunshine Laws is not.
Why anyone would want to allow the government to conduct more business away from the scrutiny of citizens is beyond me, unless of course you're Ward Crutchfield. The Brock campaign's outright lies about a Berke-Crutchfield connection is ironic and amusing.
This is important because this election is not about traditional "talking point" issues, it's about whether or not the citizens of our district can elect a candidate with integrity who can avoid being sucked into Nashville political corruption. This election is about whether or not we can elect the Anti-Crutchfield.
My suspicion of Oscar Brock grows with his recent uber-gaffe in regards to his DUI and its strange dismissal. When you are asked about a DUI you committed 20 years ago there is only one answer you can give: "It was a mistake. I was young and I did something very stupid. Thankfully, nothing terrible occurred and I was given the opportunity to grow up and learn from my mistakes."
You absolutely do not claim that the officer had no reason to pull you over. You certainly do not reduce the "inappropriateness" of the situation to being "...white and my two passengers were black and I was in Alton Park".
Even if you are intending to claim that the officer in question was somehow being racist, you certainly do not, in an election that is all about personal integrity, take anything less than full responsibility for the immoral and illegal actions that you admit you committed.
Corruption is the bane of efficient and effective governance, and this is why I'm voting for Andy Berke.
