Corruption Begets Corruption

Mayor Littlefield's decision to temporarily hire the near-criminal Marti Rutherford so she can receive retirement benefits is evidence of the Mayor's mindset concerning political/government positions. He's often been accused of having a sense of political entitlement; now we see this as something systemic in his view of government jobs overall.

It would be reasonable to conclude that his vicious and malicious behavior towards anything and everyone who may undermine or draw attention away from him is rooted in self-defense. He's the very definition of a career politician. He doesn't know how to do (and hasn't in 20 years) anything else. Elections for Mayor Littlefield are not about receiving a call to leadership from the people, they're about survival.

Funny that this was a charge leveled at Marti Rutherford, and now we see it completely manifest in our Mayor. It's time for a change.

I really like the bit where he explains that he tried to handle the matter "behind the scenes" until it "accelerated." And then opened his letter to the City Council with this:

"I do not wish for you to be caught unaware of my intended action regarding Ms. Rutherford's benefits."

Well, actually, yes he did. But let's not get hung up on details.

I don't understand why you want to get rid of this man. He's a gold mine of comedy.

I heard about this on the way into work this morning and my first thought was "Well, he obviously isn't going to be seeking re-election".

I wish that were the case. The truth is Littlefield's arrogance knows no boundaries. He fully expects the voters to forget his gaffs by the time the election rolls around.

Besides, what would Ron Littlefield do with himself if he wasn't in politics? Go into the private sector? That would be a first.

Now I'm considering actually moving into Chattanooga in order to not vote for him.
