A Fantastic College Website

If you haven't yet, you should absolutely visit the new Biola University undergrad website. It's a work of standards-based non-flash art (they do need to ditch the Cold-Fusion). One of the developers blogs about the process here.

I'd say the collegiate website bar has been raised, but when you've removed your soul & integrity yet still have a waiting list of applicants, who cares?

See, that's the great thing about blogs, and the Internet in general. If you don't want to read it, you don't have to.

Is the great thing about rice and beans the charateristic that one need not eat them? Fantastic. The great thing about Josiah is the sharp irritasion his pompous, self-referential blathering brings me twice a year. Sorry for the pervirsity of my pleasures. Ignore them.

Yours,
Dick

At first glance, it looks pretty cool.

At second glance, the homespun, Calvinist, cartoony, bannery look is getting old kinda old.

Posted by: Bill at July 22, 2007 09:53 PM

Uh Bill, Biola isn't "calvinist".

Posted by: Josiah at July 22, 2007 11:36 PM

I never said it was. When I saw the art, those things came to mind, is all.

It also looks like a Folk Implosion album cover. The kinda mediocre one they did. (Which, can be argued, is all of them.)

Posted by: Bill at July 23, 2007 12:29 AM

Hey...

What do you call a sexually curious viola?

A biola.

Drive safe, folks.

Posted by: Bill at July 23, 2007 12:30 AM

I agree. Calvinist bannery is so played out in graphic design. I can just see those pitchfork reading smug little hipster hoodie wearing graphic designers drawing their tiny little totally depraved cartoons in between chapters of "Institutes" talking about which Sufjan album cover is their favorite.

Probably Illinois, but before the Calvinist hating DC Comics made them take that little Presbyterian drawing of Superman off.

Posted by: John Totten at July 23, 2007 02:24 AM

John, are you implying that DC Comics is Baptist? Would make sense, given their very Baptist style.

Posted by: Josiah at July 23, 2007 11:16 AM

Coincidentally, my dad's buddy has been doing ink for DC strips for years. I think he's catholic.

He also plays cards with two major league umpires on a regular basis. Pretty cool.

BIOLA needs a good website because they are in the crappiest part of LA that you can get.

I have a problem with the About You page. Silly little info boxes pop up when my mouse scrolls on the right side of the page.

Whatever.
