Zee Weekend

"sometimes you gotta man up"
Originally uploaded by montyflickr.
After much hush-hush scheming on Eric's part, he and Lauren got engaged on Saturday evening. Congratulations to both! There was a big surprise party for them (just Lauren actually) at Lang & Charity's with a good 30 family and friends. Libations commensurate to the union were consumed, and by that I mean, a lot. The piper is still exacting his toll.

The previous night was your typical yet ever wonderful Chattanooga fine dining experience, or in our case, drinking experience at The Meeting Place. Andy, Morris, Emily, and Erica were present.

Mid-way through the evening at one of the large tables in the upstairs bar, we made the acquaintance of some fine folks from Memorial. We were reminded, on occasion, that they were our elders. I think I'd consider my life a resounding success if I end up half the delightful (and hilarious) conversationalists they are.

My work on Chattanooga related Wikipedia entries continues. I and a few other Chattanooga wikipedians are starting a Chattanooga History taskforce underneath the larger Tennessee Wikipedia Project. Right now I need to get my hands on two books:

1. John Wilson's book "The Patten Chronicle"
2. Zella Armstrong's "History of Chattanooga and Hamilton County"

If anyone out there has a copy of either they're willing to loan me, I'd be in your debt.

Is that book by Zella Armstrong? My grandmother gave me a book with the exact same title but it was authored by Dr. James Livingood, the former dean of The University of Chattanooga (now UTC).

It's an amazing book. I'll let you borrow it if you want.

My bad. That book is titled "The Chattanooga Country, 1540 - 1951" and is by James Livingood and Gilbert Govan. Still an amazing read.
