What the hell is Rove doing with a Coptix folder anyway?
I'm now officially scared of Josiah.

Posted by: bobw at April 2, 2007 04:46 PM
Do you guys even host sites?
Posted by: davidm at April 2, 2007 04:51 PM
Now you guys are in a vast left-wing conspiracy theory about what the vast right-wing conspiracy is doing! Got that?
Posted by: barlow at April 2, 2007 06:15 PM
Not that I believe these crazies, it is curious why he is holding a Coptix folder.
Posted by: John Totten at April 2, 2007 07:31 PM
Curious hardly begins to describe it. Subpoena the records!
Posted by: mesh at April 2, 2007 08:15 PM
Looks like someone else gets the joke too.
Posted by: ryan at April 2, 2007 08:38 PM
But, but ... it is a picture of a man holding a folder -- at a restaurant called "Porkers." Surely this is the most important journamalism since whatever happened to that one dude, Licky Dick or whoever.

heh heh heh... too funny. I couldn't have asked for better medicine to get me over this cold.
Sorry about the (s)limelight have fun with it.

Well, Coptix manages one of the nameservers for gwb43.com.
So Rove is their client. It's natural that he'd have one of their marketing folders. If he wants to give them more work, what's the big deal?
Posted by: maybe at April 3, 2007 02:45 PM
Josiah, I want so badly to out you on there. Thanks to deadspin.com, I actually have commenting privileges on all gawker media sites. But then I realized, probably half of those commenters you know already anyway, and they're just "pretending" to "theorize" about who "coptix" might be, just so they can name-drop coptix a dozen times or so. Viral, indeed.

nice job guys.... April Fools jokes are supposed to be posted on the 1st....
Posted by: stelmodad at April 3, 2007 04:38 PM
It must be true! It's on the Internet! DUH!
Posted by: dirt.is.good at April 3, 2007 04:41 PM
I'm curious: How does the Coptix marketing department feel about using an image of one of your clients in an April Fool's joke? Or did management authorize it?
Posted by: maybe at April 3, 2007 06:33 PM
Thanks for the helpful speculation, guys, but the photo of Rove at Porkers with a Coptix brochure in his hand came from the Gidcumb's site. And if it was Photoshopped, Dear Leader might not be happy.
And the curious thing is that I still haven't gotten answers from Coptix on WHY Rove had their brochure in his hand. I mean, typically, people just don't walk up to the President and hand him stuff, right? He tends to be surrounded by security.
Now, we know that the RNC is client of Coptix from the whois listing of gwb43.com. True?
So the question naturally arises, what additional services was Coptix trying to market through their brochure?
Things get really interesting when we realize that the gwb43.com domain was used by Justice department personnel to communicate about the US attorneys who were fired for refusing to affect election outcomes.
And you'd think it would be very easy for Coptix to answer these questions. But they don't. I wonder why?

lambert:
I think the answer is, sadly, all too clear. Everyone at Coptix was killed by a group of Sleestak.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy...

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Posted by: K. at April 3, 2007 10:27 PM
It's obvious that Coptix and co' are criminals. You'll have your protection from your Rovian overloards. Must be nice, habeas corpus being punted from both angles.
Posted by: Ralphe at April 3, 2007 10:38 PM
I've been trying to call Coptix all day. They are not answering their phones.
And I'm a journalist!
Posted by: Bill at April 3, 2007 11:13 PM
That's it! I'm going down there...
Posted by: Bill at April 3, 2007 11:16 PM
The Sleestak are so perfect. Now I imagine the Sleestak appearing on any video monitor that Rove walks by.
Posted by: Ken Layne at April 3, 2007 11:24 PM
I think its hilarious that this guy on this one blog commented that Coptix isn't even 'technically in Chattanooga' but in a place called Lookout Mtn. and how far Rove must have traveled to be there. Google maps are cool but far from perfect.

Thanks for the hits, guys.
How does it feel being best buds with a concentration camp advocate? Humorous? Hip? So very meta? Part of your viral strategy?
Posted by: lambert strether at April 5, 2007 09:14 AM
Hey Lambert, what was it like to grow up without friends?
Posted by: Donny at April 5, 2007 09:27 AM
I'm Jewish, btw.

Another gift from Corker country!
*Call Me!*
Don't suppose you guys helped launder that smear campaign any?
Posted by: Mr.Murder at April 6, 2007 09:47 PM
Is anyone currently investigating the connections between Rove, Coptix, Sleestaks and Porkers? There's far more here than meets the eye, but I'm sworn to secrecy.
With all my love,
Aunty Em
