The Love Song of E. Calvin Beisner
I found this buried in a stack of old documents from Cal Beisner's time at Covenant College. It's still funny.
The Love Song of E. Calvin Beisner
By Anon
Til Murersom ga meg idenog Dr. Formannsom ville ha skrevet det hadde han tanke av det.
Let us go then, you and me
And talk of urban poverty
And why we know it doesn’t really exist.
Let us go, through stucco-covered campuses
And quiet art barns
That lead you to an overwhelming question…
Please do not ask just what it is
It will not be upon the quiz.
In the room the folks are smart;
They’ve covered up the naked art.
The yellow smoke that rubs its back upon the window-panes
Is bad. Christians shouldn’t smoke
Or drink, for that matter
And especially not on this campus
For it is a Christian campus.
In the room the folks are keen;
They don’t write poems that sound obscene.
And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I strive?” and “Do I strive
To be a bit more conservative?”
I should have been a Puritan
That would have been a lot of fun.
Shall I write another book?
Do I dare to go to Knox?
I shall wear camel-hair jackets, and green argyle socks.

Wow. My only criticism is that it's three pages too short.
