Equality Ride Coming to Covenant College

Soulforce Equality Ride is coming to Covenant College on April 2nd. There will be forceful souls. There will be riding. There will be equality riding, and there will be forceful souls equality riding.

No idea what any of that means, but it should be entertaining nonetheless.

They came to Lee last year.

Soulforce was the name of my first band, by the way...

Bill Colrus and Soulforce. We did classic soul and R&B.

Soulforce must have hired Stamats to do their publicity. That, or the name is a typo. Forcefully and Soulfully Riding Equals makes everything a lot clearer, no?

People might take them more seriously if they changed their name.

Name choice notwithstanding, college folks take 'em pretty seriously. We're preparing for their visit to us, too.

Lee University has students sign some sort of "moral conduct contract." Don't these other Christian schools do this too? If so, isn't SoulForce (snicker) kind of wasting its time?

Religious conservatives and beligerent queer activists: the Aw, Shit, I'm Stuck in an Elevator With These People champions of 2007! Together for the first time! One night only! Bring the kids!

It's a reference to the Freedom Ride in Alabama in 1961. They're equating gay rights with African-American civil rights. Shameful, really.

I say: trespassers will be prosecuted. The First Amendment may not be of help, but I'd bet a pretty penny that Georgia still has strong property laws.

They're coming to Notre Dame in early March. Probably won't cause too much fuss though: the university is already bending over backwards to accommodate homosexuality, so I can't see how a group of wannabe-hippies can hurt.

I keep wanting to crack a joke but, everything I come up with comes out distasteful. I mean, what with their name and all...what the heck? It's absurd. The real thing is more of a joke than anything you can imagine. You don't have to add anything to it.
