That thing rocks.

I agree with you all the way down the line on how cool this is. Right up until the point where they announced Cingular only, for $499 or $599, with a two year service agreement. It has wifi, so I was hopeful that you could buy it and do almost everything (VOIP, email, internet) over that and avoid a wireless carrier except when out and about.

An unlocked phone where they marketed direct to consumers without a plan could have been a much bigger deal. This rocks, but you still have to hate the lock in.

The good news is, there's no lock-in on stolen ones.

I was kinda bummed about the Cingular contract too, but not enough to stop me from getting one.

This is by far the best convergence device yet...simply beautiful execution. However, since I already have relatively new iterations of the three devices that this replaces, plus over a year left on my Sprint contract, I'll probably wait until the 2G device comes out to seriously consider it. Maybe by then they'll have other carriers onboard and have all the kinks worked out.
