Chattanooga Fine Dining
It's strange really. Nobody questions that St. John's Restaurant is the finest restaurant in Chattanooga. People will argue (heck, I've argued) over where you can get the best BBQ, Chinese, Italian, etc., but never which restaurant in Chattanooga is the fine dining restaurant.
At what point was that issue settled? Was there even a fight? Heck, I begrudgingly knew it was "game over" the first time I walked in the door, and I was managing another fine dining establishment at the time.
And If you're a visitor to Chattanooga and you ask a local for recommendations on things to do 'round town, you will be encouraged have a meal at St. John's. "St. John's Restaurant" is right up there with words like "Aquarium", "Choo Choo", "Discovery Museum", and "Art District" when it comes to talking about Chattanooga.
Personally, I'm absolutely delighted with that development, and I welcome the opportunities when April and I managed to save up enough cash to take in a meal. We're never dissapointed, and I haven't even talked about The Meeting Place, which is a Chattanooga fine dining experience in and of itself, and just a wee bit more affordable.

Yeah, I never went to St. John's and I missed the Bagpipe's year-end celebration at The Meeting Place.
I did go to The Meeting Place on my 21st birthday (which, weirdly, coincided with General Assembly) and it was quite classy. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, their kitchen was closed, so I can't say I've really had the full experience.

The Meeting Place is my favorite restaurant here. The upstairs bar is great. I love the backlit tables. The food is really good and affordable too.
But yeah, St. John's is the de facto fine dining eatery. I was terribly disappointed with Hennan's. After all the hoopla, they still can't cook a filet properly.

Did you get a free meal for this post? Just kidding. In chattanooga I would agree, best hands down. Best in the area? No, I think Canyon Grill is better because the portions are larger and thus you get more for your money.

Holton, that being your criteria for what makes something the "best", I've got a giant pile of crap you can eat that I'll sell you for $5. Chow down and declare it the best.

I don't think fine dining is supposed to be about "getting the most for your money." If that's what you want, why not just go to a buffet?
