Election 2006
I am exhausted. I've been up since 6 am, working all day on the election for the St. Elmo precinct. Turnout was incredible.
Now I'm at the Corker shindig at The Chattanoogan. Things are looking good, with Corker sporting a 60K lead in the overall vote. Looks like it's all gonna come down to Memphis and western Tennessee.
Today I started getting phone calls that I had somehow appeared on the CNN politics blog. Turns out it was due to some reporter showing up and asking me about turnout. I ended up on a few radio reports too, one of 'em up in DC. Crazy.
I'll try to have a better update on things tomorrow. I've got some concerns with how the election was handled (we really need more people to work the elections), a few funny anecdotes, and some interesting stuff about all the DNC and GOP "Poll Watchers" that loomed over the entire affair and kept us all on edge.
The national interest on this race was incredible; I just had no idea it would spill over into our little corner of Tennessee.
