Your Ribbons from Your Curls

I've very much been enjoying the new Decemberists album, The Crane Wife in particular the song "Shankill Butchers". Have the Shankill Butchers become something that Irish mothers use to frighten their children into obedience?

The artwork for the album (which is very, very good) was done by Carson Ellis, an illustrator living in Portland.

I'm more in awe than anything. The Tigers going to the World Series? I'm really hoping the Cards make it in, 'cause then I'll hopefully get to see a game in St. Louis. It's a repeat of the '68 series, except this time I'll pick the Tigers to sweep. Sorry Choltie.

I would like to officially thank Auburn for beating Florida. Michigan, having dispatched Penn State, will now likely move up to #3 in the polls. Now if Oregon or Cal could please dispatch USC we'll be setup for The Game on 11/18 to be a truly rare event: the greatest rivalry in College football also being the game between the two teams ranked #1 and #2.

Finally, article from the NYT's on Roman Polanski.

Cards/Tigers would be pretty sweet - I bet Fox would love an East coast-less series! Of course, I also do not see the Cards beating Detroit, but if they even make it to the WS that means they will have beaten the Pond Scum, which is more than good for an 83-win team.

Josiah - I was in Auburn for the Florida game this past weekend. It was a beautiful thing, although I've never seen so many mournful UF fans. It was like they'd al been given terrible news at the same time. Regardless, it obviously was just what Michigan needed to make the jump up in the polls. I'm glad AU could help.
