Al-Zawahri

Al-Zawahri

In a recent video, Al-Qaida #2 had this to say to The Pope:

"This charlatan accused Islam of being incompatible with rationality while forgetting that his own Christianity is unacceptable to a sensible mind."

'Cause, you know, I know you are but what am I?

Look, I'm not exactly please with this Pope. I find his recent apologies/concessions absolutely craven, but a charlatan? really? This from a guy who lives in a cave and thinks UN Peacekeepers in Darfur are "crusaders."

In the picture you posted, is he making a hand gesture to show how that bullet hole got in his forehead?

bill's comment is awful. the fact of the matter is that both practically and ideologically speaking, the christian church is undeniably inconsistent from all angles. for us small fry, that shouldn't be a reason for more name-calling, but rather for self-analysis. don't you think?

Posted by: bethany at September 30, 2006 07:49 AM

Umm, no, not really. While "self-analysis" is a proper response to mature, well-founded, valid criticism, this isn't what we're talking about.

When we get criticism from Islamists, the questions we need to ask are not "Do they have a point? Are we doing something wrong?", but "Are we kicking enough ass? Why is this guy still around?"

Posted by: ryan at September 30, 2006 01:39 PM

Yes Ryan, that's exactly what Christ calls us to do: kick more ass and kill more people. You've totally got this figured out.

don't forget to take some names though.

Posted by: holton at October 2, 2006 02:32 PM

..ok, then, so another mark on the side of the arguement that extremism breeds more extremism.

Posted by: mary at October 3, 2006 10:46 AM

i'll take some names.

Posted by: bethany at October 3, 2006 10:49 AM

Just as an aside: does anyone want to actually address the content of what Ryan said?

What insight into Christianity from none onther than a leader of the muslim(though fundemental) world...

"Christianity is unacceptable to a sensible mind."

If only all of us Christians had this insight....
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

If Christanity were to be protrayed as sensible i would be the first one to leave this beautiful religion........
ive been in this world for almost 30 years and never came across anything sensible........
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

....as for me .... im going to keep enjoying my unsensible views and let God work in my faith and hope and unsensiblity to make me any unsensible thing He wishes....

A point to consder: You can't tell anybody about God if you are dead.

Posted by: Bill at October 3, 2006 03:07 PM

Ryan said something?

Extremism vs extremism, sounds like a good fight. My money is on extremism.

Posted by: holton at October 3, 2006 03:52 PM

what are the stakes? i'm in!
