Covenant College Homecoming

Covenant College Homecoming

Tad's gonna hafta forgive me for shamelessly stealing his great Covenant College Homecoming graphic. Like I said, it's great, and his work is gonna look nice with the His World. Your Calling. slogan all over it.

But onwards: homecoming is next weekend. The big news is that Friday night is the free kickoff shindig at the Chattanoogan for the new Capital Campaign. As you can tell from the official college release, the name of the campaign is "Build: A Covenant Campaign", and it's nice to know they stayed with the name developed by the original committee.

Choosing the campaign name was no easy task, perhaps because the committee was, for the most part, comprised of people close to Covenant College. We all had quite diverse set of viewpoints on what made the College unique and special.

I'm not doing the process justice, and likely not remembering it all correctly, but the thinking was to pick a name that was flexible which could be molded to fit the varying needs of the campaign; all the while maintaining brand consistency. For example:

Build: The Kingdom
Build: Academics
Build: Athletics
Build: Tradition
Build: A Covenant Campaign

You get the idea.

My big dissapointment was that the committee didn't get a chance to execute the various pieces creatively. I refuse to believe that Stamats will absolutely screw it all up, despite whatever evidence to the contrary.

Oh ya, and don't forget to register!

I think you mean homecoming is next weekend (October 6-7). And yes, people need to preregister. We did!

Thanks Mrs. C. That's what I get for typing quickly.

and dont forget an important detail: FREE CHILDCARE. big score. but what's up with "coat-and-tie event"? the friendly young lady who called to sign us up failed to mention the dress code.

Posted by: bobw at September 26, 2006 10:32 PM

I though it cost 50 bucks or something? If its free then i'm there, what can i say i'm a fair weather friend.

Posted by: holton at September 26, 2006 11:14 PM

Coat and tie! Ack! I had no idea. Really? Is my rain coat good enough?

Posted by: mrscrumley at September 27, 2006 07:05 AM

I don't think it is free either. My understanding is that you have to pay for homecoming weekend, and the dinner at the Chattanoogan is included in that price. Is that right?

Anything worth doing is worth doing in a coat and tie.

Posted by: mesh at September 27, 2006 12:12 PM

Mesh what about sex? That is worth doing, and is worth more without a coat and tie.

Posted by: holton at September 27, 2006 12:15 PM

Holton, it scares me that you know the price difference 'tween sex in a suit and sex sans coat and tie. It really scares me.

Posted by: Josiah at September 27, 2006 12:17 PM

I'm an underwriter, I calculate the costs...

Posted by: holton at September 27, 2006 02:57 PM

I guess there's a bottom line to everything, even sex.

Posted by: Chris T. at September 27, 2006 03:02 PM

Sex is not about what you're wearing. It's about what she's not wearing.

Gotta say, I'm loving that a conversation 'bout Covenant's homecoming ended up a roundabout discussion of sex. Viva La Intertrontubes!

Posted by: Josiah at September 27, 2006 09:55 PM

shocking, simply shocking... by the way, what are are "intertrontubes?"

Posted by: bethany at September 28, 2006 10:44 AM

I just spoke with someone in the advancement office up at the college who said that the kickoff dinner is free, regardless of whether or not you've registered/paid for the whole homecoming weekend. You just need to register online (http://alumni.covenant.edu/homecoming2006/) or email kickoff@covenant.edu with your name and the number of people in your party. I think you can register by phone, too, at 800.574.6063.
