The Hammer & Tickle, The Police, and Voting
Excellent article from The Prospect on the novelty of Russian & communist humor. The laughter aspect of the Soviet horror was a large part of Amis' Koba the Dread, i.e. "why is it we can make jokes about 20 million people killed in communist Russia, but would never do so about the Holocaust?".
The Dean of Columbia Business School Glenn Hubbard sings his version of The Police song "Every Breath You Take", except this go round it's about how badly he wanted Alan Greenspan's position as Chair of The Fed Reserve Board. Bush appointed Ben Bernanke instead. A singing Fed Chairman? Who wouldn't want that!
I mentioned the project before, but the official press release is out for the new Chalmers Chocolate website.
Nintendo announced they're changing the name of their next gen console to "Wii", which lead to its "revolutionary" controller being called the "Wiiper", which of course lead to this.
Just a reminder: tomorrow is election day for the primaries here in Hamilton County. Those of you in the Southside, come visit me at the Southside Rec center where I'll be working as the election officer for the County.
Also, please vote for John Allen Brooks. As an aside: Lou Miller is freaky looking.

It's actually a Glenn Hubbard look-alike, which sort of diminishes how awesome that skit is. Still, really funny. I love when he mouths, "This book sucks!" to the Abel/Bernanke Intermediate Macro textbook - more or less the staple text for that course.
