A Stella Named Desire, or Why There May Be a Stella Shortage
The rumors have been drifting around for awhile now, but LML, the Indian Manufacturing Company that makes the Stella for Genuine Scooters is experience some kind of financial difficulty, which has lead to shortages (or is about to lead to) of Stellas.
From what I can gather, LML claimed production had stopped because of some kind of worker lockout, which lead to LML workers denying that there was any strike, and eventually reports of some European company investing in LML.
What I have heard is that regardless of how it all pans out, they're down to something like 400 Stellas for the entire US. Those remaining scooters are being divided up amongst all the dealerships based upon predicted sales and demand. I know Scenic City Scooters is going to try to get their hands on as many as they can, but they've got no gaurantees on how many that will be.
Makes me want to go buy one in every color. Get 'em while they're hot, or in this case, available.
