3 Years

Its cliche' time.

I can't believe its been three years since I started this blog thing;I the anniversary of the birth of Irresponsible Journalsim totally crept up on me (thanks to Beth for the headsup).

I suppose it'd be tradition to have a whole bunch of reflections or something, but instead I'll do what I did when I got going with this thing: pour another glass bourbon. It is Friday after all (Hoppy's at 7:30, btw).

I do want to give props to some folks who got this blog (and Chattablogs) started. Nick Smith for really turning me on to the whole blog thing and convincing me to get one. Nick was also the guy who first registered covblogs.com and had the idea of a bunch of Covenant bloggers, which lead to a bunch of Chattanooga bloggers and chattablogs, which lead well to Terrablogs. Nick planted the seed, and even though he's long since been in retirement, he deserves props.

Then there was Dwayne and Garrett, who designed and built (respectively) the first true Chattablogs mainpage (as you may recall, there was an ugly PHPnuke page I did myself in the first days). Dwayne & Garrett's work was the foundation for the whole thing up until about a year ago, when Ron & Ben rolled out Terrablogs version 2.0.

And then Maphet really wanted one for Baltimore, which has been his baby for what, 2 and 1/2 years now?

So, to everyone out there, from Nick to Dwayne to Garrett to Maphet to Bill to Shannon to Uncle Josh to Ron to Mesh to Joe Lance to Crabbie to Gosey to Shannon to Kristin to Shamanic to Katzman to Steele to jOjO and geez, way too many people to name, on all the various blogs, thanks for your essential contribution to the whole project.

The other day I logged on to chattablogs and noticed a whole slew of features I was completely unaware of: things that users had requested that I only vaguely knew of, that Ron and Ben and various folks in the broader community had helped make happen. The whole thing has a life of its own now, which is how it should be.
