*snort* Hilarious. But do they know how close they are to the truth?

I would have to disagree.
While I've had experienced (and support) home churches, this farcical piece -- while chuckle-worthy -- is a tad confused and hardly represents any of my actual experiences.
From the first Christians forced into small enclaves for their protection, to people who currently worship in hiding in severly anti-Christian regimes, a "home" or "small" church setting is all they have. And no less honorable in the eyes of God.

Bill,
I don't think the Onion is making fun of actual home churches. In fact, I'm not sure they even know actual home churches exist.
I think the piece is satirizing the evangelico-fundamendalistic mindset that sometimes resides in the homeschooling movement and applying it to something else - "churching," in this case.

I agree. Kinda like the movie, Saved!. If they knew more about the actual subject matter they were satirizing, it would be funnier.
Minor point. Minor argument. It's the freakin' Onion. What do I care? :)

I laughed when he connected the Good Samaritan to "embracing foreigners"... ahah

Okay, someone brought up the movie Saved... "If they knew more about the actual subject matter they were satirizing, it would be funnier." What makes it so frighteningly funny is that so many of the people we know (that are in that age group), especially young HOMESCHOOLERS have said that the movie Saved is freakishly accurate. Hmmm... what an interesting connection. The Onion is on to something.

I suppose I should see this movie.

The answer is "yes, I do." But this is freakin' hilarious. Its ripping on home schoolers, not home churchers...I agree, they probably don't know such exists.
