Kanye West's comments at the Hurricane Katrina celebrity relief effort were appalling. When will this overhyped crybaby ever get that it's NOT all about him.....The American people DO care about what is going on in Louisiana and Mississippi. When they show looters and they happen to be black - have you looked at the statistics of the number of black people that live in New Orleans and then those that live below the poverty level??? - there are more black people that were either forced to stay due to the inability to afford to leave or because they chose to stay. Kanye West needs to shut his mouth and open his wallet for the American Red Cross - or how about this - get your ass down to Louisiana and help. DO something instead of running your overrated mouth on air to increase the the negativity and ill feelings. By the way, the parts of New Orleans he toured yesterday by helicopter, he did so accompanied by New Orleans black Mayor. Does that make the black mayor of New Orleans uncaring towards black people?

I think you need to look at the trucks, the planes, the helicopters, the boats full of food, water, supplies, all while being shot at....whose "people" are doing the shooting pal?

This is a catastrophy three states wide. The damage is not confined to a three block area. It is difficult to coordinate efforts to every part of that large of area in three or four days with very limited communication available. In hindsight, mistakes will be exposed, but in all the response from around the country and around the world will be seen as the most dramatic in history, when all is said and done.

Whites, blacks, hispanics, asians all over my area and every other area are giving money at record pace. A group of white girls aged 7-10 raised $800 in a two hour period selling lemonade in a white neighborhood in the Seattle area last night for Hurricane relief. Not my "people" helping your "people", but Americans helping all people!

Economics first: Money makes the world go round. New Orleans is an economically disenfranchised area. There are many who can't afford some of the liberties that we have (internet access). Unfortunately, New Orleans is majority black.

Politics second: Bush is in his second term. The fact is that those who were left in New Orleans: didn't vote Bush or doesn't vote at all. Bush does not have to please anyone. He already has his second term.

Unfortunately both goes hand and hand. No one likes to discuss racism. I'm African American and some of my close friends are white. They've been there for me at various times throughout my life. I appreciate them. I agree with what Kayne said. However, this isn't a forum where anyone has to pick sides. Racism exists, it's just covered up.

You would think that since 9/11 the bond between humanity ( American ) people would be one that no hurricane no terrorist NOTHING could come between or break. This statment is wrong regrettably.
