Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs
Mesh/Isaac/Andy have been raving about this book by Chuck Klosterman called "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs" and I've finally taken the time to read it. I'm about 40 pages in and I'm absolutely livid. He completely stole my argument concerning the effects of The Real World on contemporary youth culture. Its blowing my mind. I mean, this is stuff I feel I've been arguing word for word for a couple of years now.
Anyways, the book is amazing though. Its a collection of essays on culture (ours), and its some of the dang funniest and most insightful stuff I've ever read. It ought to be required reading for Pastors and Elders.
And I swear, if he's got an essay on the "Oprahfication" of our country, I'm putting the book down. That's my term, I've got dibs.

Effing great book. So is "Fargo Rock City." He's got a new one coming out this month, if my memory serves. He is my god.

I think Oprah should run for president.

Did you guys know Chuck's sister Rachel used to be the executive chef when Chartwells first came to Covenant? She was pretty cool. I actually just saw that book today at Barnes and Noble and I almost bought it.

I first heard the term "Oprahfication" in the early '90s.

Yeah Rachel (my boss then) tried to get me to read Chuck, but I never did until after I left Chartwells. And now that he is my god, I want to tell Rachel (the sister of god) how much I love him, but sadly, she left. Oh well, so did I.
