New Blogroll Additions, 'Sheed Lets Me Down, and Racist Wackos Are Everywhere

Its been awhile since I made any additions to my blogroll, but last weeks GA blog-thing and the subsequent friendships the came out of it neccessitated an expansion of the rolls.

The first is Rev. David Wayne, aka "The JollyBlogger". His is the first theology-presbyterian-ish blog I've enjoyed in a long time largely because of David's breadth of interests (not a one trick pony) and his sense of humor. The second addition is Shaun Nolan of Postcript Posthaste. I appreciate his blog title, and dig his general punchy one-line-and-a-link style. Gets my ADD brained the info quick without any fluff.

Of course, don't forget my brother-in-law's blog. Nathan cracks me up.

'Sheed broke my heart last night. Why, oh why 'Sheed did you not pick up the inbounds man? Especially when that man is Robert Freaking Horry who had just hit a disgusting array of three pointers. Augh. What bugs me the most is that Detroit for the whole game outplayed San Antonio. SA was bringing it, and we were shutting Manu, Parker, and Duncan down. We weren't blowing them up, but we had them where we wanted them, and then this nutjob Horry comes out of no-where lighting it up, winning it for SA because 'Sheed tried to trap Manu. Ridiculous.

Well, I'll say it now, I'm not sure I'd pick any other team to win two in San Antonio to pull it off. I'm not saying it'll be easy and I'm not saying its even likely, but I am saying its possible.

Finally, will somebody please explain to me how to avoid the racist wackos? I swear, I can't do anything without them showing up anymore. Makes me very annoyed with the internet.

Hey man,

You should ask this Sandy if it is ok for missionaries to break the laws of other countries when they go evangelize. I'm sure the answer would be "yes, but that is different." I would say it _is_ different, but at the same time it is this dangerous strain of american christianity that somehow assumes our laws are direcly sent down from God.

Which brings me to your previous post. I also appreciated the critique of patriarchy article, but as I was poking around I came accross a report on cancelling Africa's debt and why it is a bad idea. This also bothered me since, although the author has more experience in this area than I do, and it is true that these governments are corrupt, the astronomical debts a lot of these countries owe is the result of first world banking practices. For instance, I just read somewhere that Mexico has payed back 8 times the debt it accrued in the 70s-80s, and that hasn't put a dent in the interest; I think as of right now they still owe 4 times what they took out. If a US homeowner had interest rates like that, there would be bloodshed at Merril Lynch.

I'm sorry that this is so off topic, but I'm so tired of this selective understanding of global capital. Sounds like you are doing well.

I wouldn't say Horry came out of nowhere, if you cout how many championship rings he has, and how many clutch shots he's hit in his career. Think about it. Then whine some more.

The real question is, when even I, a marginal basketball fan at best, knows that you need to cover Robert Horry in that situation, did the Pistons forget about him and leave him wide open? Hate to say it, but it could be the mistake that costs the Pistons the repeat.

IRT your racist commenter, I think she gives the game away when she says: "They would be happier in their own, hispanic church."

As soon as you start promoting chuch division on the basis of ethnicity, you have revealed that you don't have quite the grasp of the Gospel that one would like.

I'm delighted to return the link. I put you in my "culture" category because you talk about Nagasaki, Mozart, Bach, Rock&Roll, Norman Shepherd and racism all within the space of a few posts. If that ain't culture, I don't know what is.

How to identify a racist - they start their speeches with "I'm no racist but . . . "
