Brad Voyles New Dean of Covenant College
So it's official. It's Brad Voyles from Bellhaven is the new Dean of Covenant College. So far it looks like a fairly impressive choice for Dean. I've also heard some very good things about him in terms of his emphasis on racial reconciliation, something like him/Bellhaven winning a national award for advancement in that area.
The big questions relate to how well he's going to be able to work with Wallace Anderson. I've heard that at least on the surface the two present different philosophies about how to work with student life, and it's going to be interesting to see how Dean Voyles works with such an involved and "hands on" administrator like Wallace.

hey, i know little to nothing about covenant, but have there been problems in the past with racial tension?

No, nothing like that. It's just something that needs to be considered, and a valuable thing to have in a Dean, especially at a Southern institution and one so close to a racial diverse city like Chattanooga. At least that's what I think.

Whatever it is, as long as Voyles has a different philosophy on student life than Anderson, it can't be all bad.

...thanks to Aaron Mesh for NOT suggesting that a bearded Brad Voyles would look like a young me. Or that an unbeared Brad Voyles looks like a young me, for that matter. Wishing all y'all down in the hinterlands well, especially this week when the PCA covers the city like kudzu.
