A New House, A Sufjan Song, A Council Re-do, A New Chattablogs Website
With all the racial-ish blogging chaos, I'm rather looking forward to getting back to the usual type of stuff found on this blog. So, here goes.
First off, if you haven't seen it already, by all means go check out the new Chattablogs website. Paul Rustand over at Widgets & Stone did the logo, and Mark Cooley our Coptix designer did the site design. I'm overwhelming pleased with it.
Secondly, April and I have been in negotiations to purchase a house, and this morning they accepted our most recent offer on 5415 Shauff Place (google doesn't seem to have the little marker correct, its actually the 3rd house on the left side of the street up from 55th next to the open lot you can see). The house has been pretty much completely restored and has 2 bed, 2 full bath, a decent sized yard, a sweet garage/shed for me to geek out in, hardwood floors, and all the other little victorian cottage touches that are so nice to have in St. Elmo. All the things we'd like to change about it are little aesthetic things. We've still gotta get an inspection, so its not all good to go yet.
I mentioned the new Sufjan album "Illinois" (from his 50 states project), and you've got to hear a track off of it "Casimir Pulaski Day". So beautiful, enjoy.
Finally, Coptix and one of our new developers Brent Johnson (along with logo design by B. Horner of Tricycle & site design again by Cooley) has finally rolled out the new Chattanooga Technology Council website. It was a monolithic beast, programmed in all sorts of crazy .jsp strut rails pillars joints, but it was alot of fun getting it done and being part of the greater Chattanooga & southest TN technology community. There's really alot of good stuff going on in this town.
Finally, there's a crew of us playing basketball on tue-wed-thur nights at the Southside Rec center. Usually we start around 7, so if you'd like to play & help whip my overweight out-of-shape butt into gear, I'd love to see you there. Do watch out for Brent Jackson at the perimeter, he never misses an outside jumpber. Its ridiculous. Usually its fun if only to see a bunchof full grown men get schooled by a bunchof junior high kids.
I also don't know how you can be a racist if you've ever listened to "Bust A Move" by Young MC or "Rappers Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang. I just can't not feel it when they hit on my iTunes, which isn't often enough.

Do you really think its a good idea to put your address out there online for any shmoe to find? Especially when you're pisssing off racist nazi punks?

Pulaski day was the greatest, we got a day off of school for some guy who floated around off the SE shore...at least I think that's what he did...I don't ever remember him having any connection to Illinois besides being polish.

Be careful. Shauff Place can be dangerous. Also, you're right, like all of Illinois, "Casimir Pulaski Day" is absolutely gorgeous. Have you heard the rest of the album?
