John Wilson is Using The Chattanoogan to Attack Ann Coulter and Bolster Support for Ron Littlefield...
...at least that's my suspicion from the little evidence I have. One might ask how I'm any different advertising for Ann on my blog and on chattablogs. The difference is, quite frankly, I don't purport to be an objective news source. Just check the title of this blog. It's stated upfront.
My suspicions started to grow when I noticed not just the consistent volume of articles John was running on the Chattanoogan in support of Ron and against Ann, but also the bizarre lack of articles in support of Ann and against Ron, whether those articles be in the opinion or news section.
Run the searches yourself. Dozens of articles exist slamming Ann and in support of Ron. But relatively few the other way around.
So I started submitting generic articles via anon e-mail addresses in support of Ann. Not one has been run in the opinion section. This may of be a product of my sophomoric writing ability and not so much to do with a perceived bais in the editorial policy of Mr. Wilson. Yet I can't imagine I was that bad, especially in light of poorly written shlock like this that gets run.
Its one thing to level your private support in favor of a candidate, its another to compromise journalistic ethics via an quiet editorial policy. Unfortunately we'll never know the truth. The only person Mr. Wilson is accountable to is Mr. Wilson.

JW is famous for posting press releases verbatim so i can not imagine he would not have just cut and pasted readily available news content, cleaned it up however, and posted it if he wanted to. I agree with you. especially how long the anti Ann headlines seem to linger on his front page. And the slanted language he uses - like when the financial disclosures came thru: "Coulter Amasess warchest..." It only keeps me more motivated and strengthens my resolve to campaign harder smarter and with more integrity than the candidtate whom i like to call Little-too-late.

Well, I don't know John personally, but I get the idea that he's a conservative. As Littlefield was endorsed by the conservative candidate who did not make the runoff (Dan Johnson), it makes sense that he might not support Ann Coulter.

Don't you just hate sneaky bastards that use their "power" to bend the public to their will? In the end it seems all news outlets are just opion pieces, for the most part, when it comes down to politics.

As for your linked article: I've often wondered about any relationship that may exist between W.L. Schultz, of So. Moore Rd., who writes a lot of opinions, and Wesley Schultz, whose photographs often decorate the Chattanoogan pages.
I had not noticed a Littlefield bias in the news or opinion items. Now my interested is piqued.
I do happen to know that John Wilson and Ron Littlefield share a similar opinion regarding the proposed hotel next to Coolidge Park.
Oh, and Pablo has a point, too -- I started the Civic Forum blog (click my name below) as an objective reference item, and within days was dallying in personal opinion. Of course, it's my blog, I'm free to do that, but I'm simply illustrating the temptation. Now I'm trying to clean it up.
