Familial Cheese

When I was in highschool my sisters were addicted to this movie called Rigoletto. It was some type of Beauty & The Beast with vaguely sexual overtones a la Phantom of the Opera. At least that's what I thought. I think I made a remark to that affect to my Mom (she of course, loved the movie too) and I got an earful back. It think it might have been one of those films in that group put out by Mormons, like that one starring the New Oakridge Boys driving cross-country in an old Volkswagen Beatle.

Anyways, in a classic Josiah fit of nostalgia I downloaded the soundtrack. Occasionally it pops onto my iTunes playlist and I think of NEPA (northeastern pennsylvania) walking through our "family" room and seeing my sisters watching that movie singing along to "the Melody Within" in a fit of glorious junior high girl cheese. I miss them. Married and kids and college. I'm thinking its reunion time!

I thought I was the only one who had ever seen those movies...what a flashback.

"There lies a melody, lost deep inside of me,
but now it's free...found a place in harmony, sweet harmony"

Oh man, I remember those movies. They had discussion questions of the back of the cases. "How would you feel if your parents died?" and that sort of thing. Good times.
