We Are The Amish
Last night was Founders Skit Night, or as I think of it, "Catacombs Super Hero Battle-Skit Night."
Mesh made the comment that with each passing year its gets harder and harder to describe the joy of that bizarre little word up on the mountain and its pinnacle moments expressed in things like battle-skits and folk-festivals and hall-ball. I'm not even gonna try. You either know or you don't. Everyone else can watch the movie (from 2001).
Somehow Todd and some of the guys managed to dig up the words and music to "We Are The Amish" composed by Tom Okie some 7 or so years ago. I didn't expect it, and it made me very very happy to hear it.
I say with all confidence that Catacombs is still doing what its *supposed* to be doing, if that means very much anymore. They're a sprited, creative, insane, and immensely caring group. There's something weird, but right, about getting hugged & "woah-ed" by 20 guys who's names you don't know.
So anyways, as soon as I can, I'll have the skit up for download. Catacombs took 2nd place overall, with awards for best soundtrack, music, costumes, and spirit. Along with having numerous alumni in the skit, there were three former RA's younger sisters present and even a 2nd generation Catacombian, Jonathan Horn, who's father I met in Greyfriars the other day. I showed him this picture, which blew him away because the guy lying down in the front was his room-mate. He told me that Catacombs has always been the way it was and should stay that way.
There's part of me that feels slightly guilty heading back up for skit-night. Like I should move on or something. But I hope y'all wont hold it against me, 'cause, you know, "...everyone wants to be in an awesome super-hero battleskit."
You can watch the 2001 Catacombs Super Hero Battle Skit, "Thus Spake Fernando" here.

Do the masses know about the presence on an Amish community on Lookout Mountain?
What a blast from the past. Ma$e-dog told me it was going on last night but I just couldn't find a way to get there. Sounds like I missed a good time.

It was lovely. Once again, Naked Man in a Box made whatever profound political statement you make by being naked in a box. I think the statement was, "This is the most important Naked Man in a Box in our lifetime!"

I freakin' loved being a catacombian. I haven't seen anything quite like it since.

Ah, catacombs skit night, where alumni refuse to let go of their college years and move on... how bitter sweet. Kind of like a former frat boy who recalls the keg stand he did back in '88.

Ok, I'm letting the cat out of the bag, I'm the one that broke Gosey's toes back in the battle of '98. Those were great days.

ah, the lone philistine of the sidewalk. Don't worry Choltie, you're invited to next years skit-night. You can be part of the fun too, if you want. We'll grandfather you in, via your brother Peter.

This is Tony, from White Plains New york. I think this blog is awesome! I read it thrice a day! I dunno what school you people went to, but, it looks gay enough for me. GOD LOVE FAGS!

Oh, no Tony, you've got it wrong, Catacombs is just a place "where free spirit governs gender insecurity." (do I have the quote right, Josiah?)
