When A Young Man's...
I'm chillin here in Greyfriars, on my new powerbook. Behind me is some upperclassman Covenant student "counseling" some pretty young freshman blond. Some of his lines are stunning, absolutely stunning. I wish I had a transcript.
"Its good you have no expectations. I came with no expectations. There's nothing wrong with having expectations. You should start some now."
"have you ever watched I love the 90's, its awesome." "I really enjoyed I love the 90's, because there's a couple episodes where I was like 'that was absolutely ridiculous!' Did you ever own a Tamagotchi?"
"I'm in a really good place relationally right now."
"It's so refreshing to be back on Lookout Mountain because I'm surrounded by people who think like me."
"I really like the worship at Rock Creek, its like, a six string guitar, you know? and I think a violin."
"Driving down Scenic Highway on a Sunday morning, when the sun is shining, its like WOW, the earth is the Lords!"
"this is a really exciting place, you're going to love the next four years."
"this is kindof extraordinary"
"If you can, make one of your goals; find some people you want to get to know better. Create those situations. Go bowling with them. Go bowling with people."
"you're always welcome up in my room...wherever you are you're there for a reason."
"do you drink espresso?" no "that's not really a bad thing, its mans responsibility not to abuse it"
Sometimes I really miss college...

Sigh...I have nothing to say. In some sick, strange way, it reminds me of those love letters we found from the Student Life kids last summer...not sure why.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
No, seriously, ha ha.
Nice Calvinistic slant on inviting her up to his room. Way to integrate faith and life!

I am speechless. This is the funniest thing you have ever posted. "Go bowling with people" is my new catch phrase.

Stunning. Absolutely stunning.

that'd be a fun conversation piece wouldn't it, just sit him in the corner, slip him a freshman every now and then and have yourself a good ol' time. I want one; I cleaned out my corner. but then, maybe he'd turn into one of those dogs that never quite grows up, you know, the ones that don't ever shut up. In that case I'd probably have to "accidently" let him out of his corner and tell him to go play in traffic.

Josiah, that was me, and I'd appreciate you not making fun of my conversations with my wife... I mean we really should go bowling.

Ha ha ha! Ow, my side hurts now...

Mesh, love your new catch phrase. I think I am partial to "the Earth is the Lord's!" But only when the sun is shining, at night or when it is raining the Earth is MINE!
Posted by: ARoss at September 10, 2004 11:09 AM
Classic. Do you think they can print that in the Bagpipe?

wherever you go, there you are.

That is such the stereotypical upperclassman bull crap. I was feeling really sad to be away from Covenant, but after reading this, I remembered that I'm glad that this season of my life is over!
Posted by: Rebekah at September 11, 2004 12:05 AM
Rebekah, you know just as well as I do that you're just jealous no upper-classman took you out to Greyfriars and gave you a good talking to, all manly like, all manly URBAN like...
