Chattanooga Police in St. Elmo
I live in St. Elmo, one of Chattanooga's three historic districts. I love it. Recently there has been a rash of cars having their windows smashed in with various items, from cd's to sunglasses stolen. This has happened 2 nights in a row. This happened less than 3 blocks from a police station, SMALL St. Elmo blocks mind you. Where are the police?
Everytime something has happened nobody could be reached at the station at 1 a.m., and people were forced to do a report by phone. You'd think after the first time the police would make sure to have a car doing some kindof patrol the next night, but alas. Anyways, via the St-Elmo mailing list, most folks I think are pretty aware 'bout what's going on and hopefully through greater community awareness and me chilling on the alley between Tennesee & St. Elmo avenue armed might act as a bit of a deterrent.

If I'm not mistaken, William Cotton is your Representative and would be a good first line of defense (cotton being kookie, not withstanding). If that doesn't work, try the good ole' media or Todd Womack in the Mayor's office. Maybe even the 311 line would work.

it's john taylor. good luck getting a hold of him. he's the rep for st. elmo and alton park, and he doesnt seem to care much for st. elmo. and unfortunately he's more of a politician than a representative.

So what kind of heat are you packing?

I came back with a couple of 4 foot machetes. I say we patrol that drainage ditch that runs along the alley with little golf carts.

I'll take the 2-4 a.m. shift. I'm up anyway, and I like little golf carts.

I am not alarmed at what is taking place in run down St Elmo. Dude only white people who can't except other races live there. Now in Eastridge where the music scene is, there was a robbery of the AMSouth Bank about a week ago and within 10 minutes of the robbery they the police, had the guy in cousidy. I need not say more.

Yeah I had my place broken into last tuesday. I had about $7000 worth of stuff stolen from my place. Thankfully my neighbor saw them and ran after them. They got away but he got a partial TN plate# T**122 or F**122 grey car simular to an '82 Labaron. I now have a deadbolt lock and I just installed a motion detector alarm. Its frustrating its been 2 days and I have yet to hear if they have found anything on the plates. And I'm going thru withdraws from Tribes on my PS2!
