Credenda Interviews David Brooks
One of my favorite writers/journalists/essayists was interviewed by Doug "The Other Doug" Jones in the recent issue of Credenda Agenda. I was floored. You can find the interview here.
here's a great quote from Brooks:
"I just wish people were a little more, not aggressive, not necessarily evangelical about it, but talking more about what their faith means to them."
Brooks of course, writes from the perspective of a religious sympathizer inside the dominant & dominating secular camp, not something I experience say, as a Christian here in Chattanooga. What I wish is that Brooks advice would be applied to the dominant and dominating Presbyterians world: talk about what your faith means to you, leave behind excessive erudite posturing.
Wow...post #4 on the day...
one final quote from Brooks:
"I think many, especially in academia, are supposed to study America or the world, and yet they are often very insular. But that's not entirely their fault, to be honest. A lot of people in different Christian or Jewish or Muslim movements are pretty insular too; its just more convenient and easier to stay within yourself."
My fear though is that Wilson & Co. will use Brooks concerns with uber-leftist academia as an excuse to shun mainstream academia and to continue to "stay within" themselves as Brooks might put it...

I don't think the fears of Josiah and Co. are justified.

Oh, good. Care to say why?

Is the Brooks interview not itself an attempt on their part to have dialogue with mainstream academia?
