A Good Day in Sports & Wilco
I've got the new Wilco album, A Ghost is Born. Thus far I'm really enjoying it. Its far more accesible, on the first few spins, than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was. Thus far I also find it an album altogether more sad than YHF or Summerteeth. Its almost as if they deconstructed the deconstruction and ended up back at more honest emotion. But again, I'm only at my 4 listen through. If you want the album, go here and then I'll hook you up.
It's been a beautiful few days in sports. Much to everyone's amazing the Tigers have somehow managed to win their first three games, sweeping the Blue Jays in their series. The Bosox have won their games also, and more importantly, the Yankees have lost two. Mesh made the point last night that its really hard not to love the first month of baseball, I mean, when else are you gonna see The Tigers, Royals, and Bosox all having better records than the Yankees? Tonight the Tigers play the Twins who've been struggling. Its the Tigers home opener.
Yesterday marked the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Redwings pulled off a win over the Nashville Predators. Don't get me wrong, one shouldn't expect the #1 team in the NHL to loose against the 8th seed in the playoffs. The Preds did give the Wings a bit of a scare when they scored 16 seconds into the game. Wings didn't score until the 3rd period, where they put away 3 goals to finish it. Next game is Saturday at 3. I'll be at parkway.

I'd just like to point out the fact how dumb it is that you're a Redwings fan. When I saw Miracle on saturday the first thing that came to my mind when seeing the Soviet War Machine aka their olympic hockey team, was "REDWINGS". The redwings are the both the Soviets and Yankees of hockey. Much like the soviets they intimidate their opponents with their sheer hockey tradition. Then they go out and stack their team with all the great players that made names for themselves on other teams (Blues, Stars, Blackhawks, and Buffalo). Guys who were the core of the smaller teams carrying those teams on their backs and getting so close to a stanley cup (with the exception of the Stars who won)
Brett Hull, Brenden Shannahan, Darrien Hatcher, Chris Chelios, Cujo, Dominek Hasek, Steve Thomas (actually i don't know who he is). All men that were plucked up by the Soviet Detroit War machine to solidify their dominance of hockey.
Luckily by God's providence the Redwings have been quite unsuccessful in their quest for the cup, nly winning three in the past six-seven years. Though they should've won more with the teams they've had.
Frankly Roe, despite your affliation with the city of Detroit, you should repent of your affection of the evil detroit redwings, either that or start rooting for the yankees and lakers to stay consistent.
Concerned about your sporting affiliations, and your soul

The Red Wings are evil. That's all there is to it and all there is to say on the matter.
